Description
With the aim to develop work in the mining industry to be seen as attractive to all groups, the prerequisites for a broad, development-oriented interaction shall be investigated in a pilot project.
The consortium created includes the mining industry´s central body SveMin and GRAMKO , the training center for mining in Garpenberg, two mining companies as well as representatives from the two municipalities with mines in addition to the Innovation System Triple Steelix and project management at Dalarna University. An attractive workplace provides great opportunities to attract skilled workers of both sexes, which creates opportunities to enhance the industry´s innovative strength along the entire value chain. A number of limited efforts with selected methods will be implemented with the aim of identifying practices that could be expected to increase the interest among youngsters of both sexes not only to acquire education and employment in the industry, but also to engage in the work. What role a new simulator based training in Garpenberg can play in developing the profession´s attractiveness and help to convey an accurate picture is one of many
issues that will be highlighted.
The project will be led by a research team with extensive experience in interactive research in collaboration between academia, industry and society. In concrete terms, the interactive approach of this pilot project means that the research team, together with representatives of industry, local authorities and education providers, analysis the results from made efforts. The researcher´s role is to assist and reflect critically in order to create lasting change and new knowledge.
