TRNSYS

TRNSYS is used by engineers and researchers around the world to validate new energy concepts.

TRNSYS is a simulation programme that is foremostly for modelling and simulating energy systems. Dalarna University is an official distributor of TRNSYS software for the Nordic countries.

TRNSYS is used by engineers and researchers around the world to validate new energy concepts. It is used for modelling everything from domestic hot water systems and simulation of buildings with their auxiliary systems to control strategies, resident behaviour patterns and alternative energy systems like wind power, solar energy and solar PV cells.

To download a demo version of TRNSYS18, see the tab at the end of this website.

Standard Components and Weather Data

TRNSYS has a library of standard components big enough to get started with modelling and simulation. Over the years, a set of other components and alternative libraries have been created by users. Links to some of the most known ones are found below.

TRNSYS can read different types of weather data files. A starting kit is supplied with the standard installation. An extended library can be installed if required.

Other Software

TRNSYS can also be used together with other programmes: for example, EES, MATLAB and Excel.
