Swedish national parks are receiving increasing as tourism destinations with societal importance lately, and several extensive projects to make the national parks more available for tourists are taking form.

Concerning this form of tourism, nature is assigned the role as the drawing card and is highlighted as the finest nature available in Sweden. There is a strong focus on protecting and preserving nature, but simultaneously, there is a strong will to make Swedish national parks some of Europe's most popular nature-based tourism destinations. In her presentation, Emelie will touch upon these questions and share the work behind her dissertation. She will problematise how nature, or the non-human world, is portrayed, understood, and valued within a touristic context related to Swedish national parks.
