Nigeria is Africa's most populous country and one of the world's largest oil producers. Together with South Africa, it is one of the superpowers of Africa. After many years of military rule, Nigeria has an elected president, but the country threatens to break apart along ethnic and religious lines. Many of Nigeria’s conflicts are evident in the Mega City of Lagos, where the many peoples of Nigeria meet and interact and where identities are constantly negotiated and re-negotiated.
