The Master’s programme in Operations Research (OR) at Dalarna University is intended for students who wish to work in OR, or who intend to proceed to PhD-programs in OR. After the completion of the program, the student in OR will be ready to work in several areas, e.g. operations management, analysis of logistics systems, industrial optimisation and problem solving in complex organisations. The student who wishes to proceed to international PhD-programs will have covered courses equivalent to first semester PhD-education.
If you choose this programme you will
- understand how to solve real world OR problems through the use and further development of modern software tools;
- compare and contrast AI solutions vs traditional OR techniques, decide which is more appropriate for a given problem or even develop a combined hybrid solution;
- explain both the advantages and limitations of the technologies covered in the programme to people without deep technical knowledge;
- quantify the performance of solutions using both simulations and empirical real-world studies;
- further develop their understanding of the field, in particular how it relates to other disciplines;
- audit an OR solution built by somebody else;
