Cooperation

The English Department cooperates with programmes and staff at the Falun and Borlänge campuses as well as provide education and support to external organisations.

Inter-Campus Cooperation

The English Department cooperates with programmes and staff at the Falun and Borlänge campuses providing both elective and programme-based courses.

Within literary studies, we offer a joint course in Literature and Politics in Contemporary Africa (7 ECTS credits), with the departments of Arabic, French, and Portuguese. The advanced level course, which is offered both on campus at Falun and in net-based format, has been developed with African Studies at Dalarna.

At the Borlänge campus, elective courses focus on three main areas: oral communication, in particular presentation technique; written communication, primarily academic and business writing; and, cultural aspects related to students' future workplace interactions.

Programme-based courses are developed with programme staff to support students in their studies. These courses mainly focus on presentation technique, academic and business writing, and workplace culture. Due to the background of the Borlänge-based staff, business courses where the language of instruction is English can also be offered.

External Cooperation

In addition, the English Department also provides education and support to external organisations. This can take many forms – examples from previous work include courses in business communication; coaching for presentations; mentoring for sales pitches and intercultural business meetings; communication assistance for websites, newsletters; etcetera.
