What is Summon?
Summon is a search service where you can access the library's printed and electronic resources. In addition to the library catalogue, you can also access most full-text articles and certain databases, as well as the University's research publications and theses from DiVA.
If you want an overview of a subject area, Summon is a good place to start. Other databases may be a better option if you are after specific information within a particular subject area, since these databases often contain a subject-specific thesaurus or subject list.
Search Methods
You can refine searches in Summon by using the options in the left-hand menu once you have conducted a search. These options can be combined to achieve a more manageable search result. For example, you can narrow your search down to receive only books, e-books, scientific articles, full-texts etc. in your search results.
You can also conduct a more specific search using the advanced search option.
Summon from Home
In order to access e-books and articles in full-text from home, you must be a student or staff member at Dalarna University.
Once you have conducted a search you will see "Off campus? Sign in to access full text and more" above the results list. Click on the text and login with your user account.
