Higher Ordinance: Regulations
A new System of Qualifications was put into place on July 1, 2007. This means that different regulations apply depending on when you commenced your studies.
Studies Commenced Before July 1, 2007
Students who commenced but did not complete their studies before July 1, 2007 have the right to apply for a degree until June 30, 2015 in accordance with the old regulations. However, these students may also apply for a degree according to the System of Qualifications of 2007.
If you do not meet the requirements for a degree according to the new regulations, the application will automatically be assessed against the requirements of the old regulations.
Studies Commenced After July 1, 2007
Students who commenced their studies after July 1, 2007 must apply for a degree according to the new regulations (the System of Qualifications of 2007).
Which Regulations Apply to Me?
The regulations that apply to you depend on when you began your studies and which subjects you studied. The regulations are found in Dalarna University's System of Qualifications and Local Degree Ordinance.

Degree from Single-Subject Courses
All higher education consists of courses. Either you take single-subject courses or you study within a programme. However you choose to study, your degree is equally valid.
When you study single-subject courses, you may put a profile on your own education by combining any courses you wish. As a student in a specific programme, you have a guaranteed place in the programme courses. Furthermore, a programme always leads to a degree. By taking single subjects, you must pay more attention to the degree requirements so that your combination of courses grants you a degree.
Certain educational routes can only be studied as a programme only – such as teaching, nursing, and engineering. These educational routes (that lead to a degree) cannot be taken as single-subject courses.
