Getting Around Falun and Borlänge

Getting to and from the university is easy. In both Falun and Borlänge there are pedestrian and bicycle paths as well as bus routes between most residential neighborhoods and the university buildings.

  • Bus timetables (in Swedish only) can be found at www.dalatrafik.se. Full-time students, regardless of age, receive the youth discount on Dalatrafik buses by showing their student union card.
  • Train timetables and intercity bus timetables in English can be found at http://www.sj.se.

Travelling To and From Campus

By bus

The following bus lines are useful for on-campus students: 

Within Falun

  • From central Falun, Östra Hamngatan, to Campus Lugnet: bus number 70, 270 and 63.
  • From central Falun, Östra Hamngatan, to Mediehuset: bus number 254.
  • Line 771 goes from the Bojsen and Britsarvet neighborhoods (including the Britsen student residence) to Campus Lugnet and  to Regementet, where the Mediehuset is.

Within Borlänge

  • From central Borlänge, Stationsgatan, to Högskolan Dalarna in Borlänge: bus number 602 or 253.

By car

Parking permits are necessary for parking in Högskolan Dalarna's parking areas (P-platser). Permits are available at reception.
 
There is free parking at the ice hockey rink, a five-minute walk northeast of Campus Lugnet in Falun. Exit Lugnetleden at "Lugnets camping och ishall". 

Travelling Between Falun and Borlänge

By bus

During business hours, bus 253 goes between the Borlänge and Falun campuses three times per hour. The trip takes about 35 minutes. 

By car

Motorway 60 between Falun and Borlänge has two lanes in each direction and it takes about 25 minutes to go from one campus to the other by car.

By train

The train between the railway stations in Falun and Borlänge takes about 20 minutes. It is about a 15-minute walk from both stations to the respective campus.
