History
History as a science is the ever lasting dialogue between present and past time. Not only does it offer a perspective of why the present appears the way it does, it also opens up for a new view to ourselves. Our interest in history is bipolar – as is our interest in foreign people: Fascination in the presence of the unfamiliar and identification. The past offers a feeling of vertigo as well as a feeling of being at home. The person who is not only interested in knowing what has happened, but also in understanding why, will enjoy the study of history. History is also important as a basis for studying other subjects – not least in the sphere of Arts and Social Sciences.
