About the English Department
Dalarna University's English Department offers a wide range of high-quality courses and programmes from preparatory to graduate level.
Most of our courses can be studied online as well as on campus and all MA options are also available on a part-time and distance basis.
We are at the forefront of distance education, employing the latest innovations in online learning and teaching.
Our staff are qualified researchers from all over the English-speaking world, with a broad spectrum of research interests.
The department has hosted five international conferences, a national forum on English Studies in Swedish Higher Education as well as the first student essay conference in Sweden, in collaboration with Högskolan Gävle.
The latest international conference, "A New Ireland?: Representations of History in Literature and Culture took place in Falun 3-4 November 2011 and was hosted jointly by DUCIS and the English department.
Our research in the fields of linguistics and literature has attracted prestigious national and international awards. The department hosts the only Irish Studies centre in Sweden and publishes the peer-reviewed Nordic Irish Studies journal in collaboration with CISA and NISN; it also plays an important role within the newly established Centre for African Studies at Dalarna University.
