Welcome to the Department of Economics at Dalarna University!
Our department gives courses in Economics from undergraduate level up to Master's level (One-Year Master Programme in Economics). The Economics department is built based on Applied microeconomic research especially focusing Transport, Tourism, retailing and Environmental Economics topics. Research has been funded by amongst others the Swedish transport administrations (Trafikverket) and the courses focus public Economics, cost-Benfit analysis and quantiatvie methods.
Today the department is closely connected to the Transport Economic unit at the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute, VTI and also HUI Research (which is a merge between HUI (Swedish Institute of Retail), and TUI (Swedish Institute of Tourism) in 2011).
The research and teaching staff currently consists of one Professor, three Associate professors, four Senior lecturers and Ph.D.:s, three Ph.Lic., six Ph.D.-students and one teaching assistant.
The research at the department can be described as Applied microeconomics with a focus on transport, tourism and retail. The research today also includes health, spatial and regional economics, behavioral and experimental economics as well as public finance. Several of our researcher are members of research groups that together forms the Graduate School "Fundaments for Economic Growth" with base at Örebro University.
