One-Year Master Programme in Solar Energy Engineering, 60 ECTS-credits
The programme is a 1-year course within the subject area Energy and Environmental Technology which leads to a one-year master exam, in Swedish “magisterexamen”. All courses are taught in English.
See also the programs's own website ESES.
The first semester is devoted to courses in energy engineering with focus on renewable energy, solar heating, solar electricity, solar energy management and design of solar heating systems. During the second semester a successive progression is taken place through courses in PV/Hybrid systems and passive solar heating and building integration. The semester is ended with a 18 ECTS thesis work.

Objectives of the Programme
On successful completion of the courses the students will have reached the knowledge and proficiency in order to be able to independently
- undertake research and development work in the PV industry (devices and modules), design stand alone, grid connected and hybrid photovoltaic systems, as well as concentrating systems
- undertake research and development work on solar collectors and other solar thermal devices, design solar thermal installations for a variety of existing and potential applications
- perform simulations and calculations in the field of solar energy by modern software tools
- design and evaluate applications of passive solar energy in buildings
- work with assessment, management, and planning of solar energy, both in government and local administration as well as in utilities and companies in the solar energy field.
- design systems for hot climates such as solar cooking, desalination, water purification, crop drying, and solar air conditioning
- contribute to group activities in solar energy research
