Karla Boluk, a Senior Lecturer in the Human Geography Department recently returned from an Erasmus exchange visiting Bournemouth University and Cardiff Metropolitan in Wales in the UK. Dalarna University has an established relationship with Bournemouth and we currently have a student there studying Tourism on an Erasmus exchange. Karla was a guest lecturer in the Department of Tourism and Hospitality at Bournemouth for nearly a week. She gave lectures on Ethical Consumption in the context of Tourism and Intercultural Communications in Business. Furthermore, Karla gave a faculty seminar in the Department of Tourism and Hospitality presenting a Critical Review of Fair Trade Tourism.

Karla recently initiated an Erasmus agreement with the Hospitality and Events Management Department at Cardiff Metropolitan. We are looking forward to developing a relationship with Cardiff Metropolitan and hope to cultivate an opportunity for students to participate in an exchange between the two universities. Whilst visiting Cardiff Karla lectured on ‘New Alternative Approaches in Tourism’ and ‘Fair Trade Tourism South Africa: A Pragmatic Poverty Reduction Mechanism?’

Dalarna University recently hosted Scott Cohen from Bournemouth University and we look forward to hosting Sheena Carlisle from Cardiff Metropolitan in the New Year!
