Regional Science
Regional science is one of six priority research areas at Högskolan Dalarna.
Currently this research area includes study on mobility, tourism, restructuring and attractive workplaces, with a focus on regions outside urban growth centres.
The aim is to gain further knowledge about the processes that affect regional development, especially the growth within rural areas. This includes questioning how changes occur in population structures, the labour market and transport, but also in cultural landscape and cultural heritage. Whilst also considering the attractiveness of places and regions.
The subjects at Högskolan Dalarna that contain the research area are Human Geography, Geography, Business Studies, Economics and Work Science. Furthermore, there is a connection to several fringe research environments: the foremost adjacent areas being transport research, research in the electricity market, retail industry research, and future research.
In total there are five professors, three senior lecturers, eleven doctorates and eleven doctoral students working in the research environment.
