Recently, Dalarna University received visitors from China. The purpose of the visit was to further contact with two partner universities and also to discuss collaboration with one further institute of higher education. Early in the summer, Vice Chancellor Marita Hilliges and a delegation from Dalarna University visited the universities in China.

One of the partner universities is Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU), with which Dalarna University has collaborated for 15 years. It is one of five universities in China that specialises in transport, infrastructure and communication. The second is Tianjin University of Finance and Economics (TUFE), which has been a cooperative partner of Dalarna University since  2006. Currently, discussions are underway with a third university, Beijing Normal University that offers teacher training,  to draw up a cooperation agreement.

Every year, the course "Doing Business in China" is offered and part of that involves a group of students and teachers from BJTU. Dalarna University has active cooperation with TUFE in the area of Statistics and National Economics. This involves an exchange of students, teachers and researchers between the two universities.

In conjunction with the discussions with the directors of TUFE, Marita Hilliges was recognised as a Guest Professor at the university.

During the visit, a ”signing ceremony” took place, where Dalarna University and TUFE officially extended their cooperation agreement.

Recently, a delegation from Tianjin University of Finance and Economics visited Dalarna University. The visit is part of the ambition to increase the collaboration between the two universities.
