Tema Turism: New Mentor Programme for Tourism Students

02 Feb 2012 06:56

This week is the first for tourism students to be part of the Tema Turism mentor programme. The  programme will offer students the opportunity to establish contacts within the regional tourism branch. It will also give mentors the opportunity to get to know the students, who are no doubt curious to learn more about their future working lives.

"The mentor programme stimulates the exchange of experiences, new points of view and reflections between participants," states Helén Holmqvist, Coordinator of the mentor programme.

"It is also great to see that our foreign students are getting ínvolved. Among those taking part are Germans, Russians, Japanese and Iranians. This just adds a further dimension to that of the meeting between student and professional," she explains.

Apart from being beneficial for both the student and the mentor, the mentor programme is also important for the university's contact with the regional tourism branch.

Tema Turism at Dalarna University works to maintain collaboration between the university and the regional tourism branch. Twenty teachers and researchers currently work with Tema Turism. Students are registered in either the International Tourism Management Programme or the one-year Tourism Destination Development  Master's Programme.

On February 16, Tema Turism would like to welcome everyone to its Open House at Campus Borlänge, when information about the programmes and courses as well as current research projects will be presented.
