Media Production Courses and Programmes at Dalarna University are some of the most popular. Last year, two such programmes had the most first-hand applicants of all programmes at the university, while this year, application figures show that there has been an increase of 21 percent in applicants.

"There has been a steady rise over the last five years, and now we have expanded with more programmes, such as Audio Visual Production, and Scriptwriting for Film and TV has also received many applications," explains Maria Görts, Department Head for Media at Dalarna University.

Well-prepared for professional life

The chance to take a professional education, one in which students are well-prepared for professional life, along with comprehensive research in the field, makes for a successful combination.

Media Production students gain broad competence in the field, both technical skills and artistic representation.

"This might mean representation in the form of photographs and sound composition in which technically advanced equipment is used. We are also in the process of developing research so that we can offer master-level degrees," says Maria Görts.

Practicum and project management

Students are also prepared for future working life through the practicum possibilities and courses in project management.

"Many of our students start their own businesses and work with projects for production companies after their degrees. By studying what is required in the work world, students increase their employability," explains Maria Görts further.
