The Language Centre at Dalarna University was recently awarded 20 000 SEK as first prize in a British competition entitled "Multi-Culturalism in the Community."
The Language Centre sent in a project idea to the organisation Multilingual Matters with the title "Coffee with a Multi-Cultural Flavour" in which it described its present-day activities as well as plans for its future cafés, plans that will help attract more people from more diverse backgrounds.
More opportunity to take part
More cafés will be put on at times and places that will hopefully suit more people, and more languages will also be offered. Organisers will meet with organisations that work directly with new arrivals to Sweden and inform them about language café activities.
The language cafés will continue as usual this term and will begin this Monday (the 23rd) at Wayne's Coffee in Falun. This term, the menu of languages has expanded with the addition of Japanese. As usual, there is no charge to take part and everybody is welcome.
More information about the language cafés can be found on the Language Centre's website
