The aim of this four year PhD project is to systematically evaluate the potential for thermal energy storage in the Swedish building stock. The first stage is to build up a broad and general competence for systems with thermal storage as a means for improving energy efficiency in buildings, knowledge which is not currently collected together in Sweden. In the second stage of the project detailed studies will be performed on applications that have been shown to be promising in the first stage and that can be applied in practice in renovation and new building projects. The main PhD supervisor is Dr Viktoria Martin at the institution for energy technology at KTH.
