History
The Solar Energy Research Center, SERC, started in November 1984 as a separate division of the engineering department at Högskolan Falun Borlänge, today Högskolan Dalarna. R&D concentrated at an early stage on solar collector optics and computer calculation. SERC has received financial research support since 1987, first from STEV (now NUTEK) and later from BFR (now FORMAS). The main financial support today comes from STEM (the Swedish Energy Agency), FORMAS (the Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning), EU’s 4th framework programme and national research support organisations.
