Pedagogical Qualifications
Here follow instructions for documenting relevant pedagogical qualifications proving competence to be included with applications for posts as junior/senior lecturers and professors at Dalarna University.
Since academic and teaching qualifications are valued equally for most posts at Dalarna University, we assume that applicants put the same effort into accounting for their pedagogical capabilities as they do for their academic qualifications. It is recommended that applicants draw up a “pedagogical portfolio” including the information listed below.
A
The applicant’s own view of teaching, methodology and the future of teaching.
In this overall description, the applicant will state the main features of his/her teaching activities and his/her attempts to achieve his/her own overall goals as well as those of the department and the institute of higher education where he/she is currently employed. The applicant should assess the success of his/her efforts. In addition, the applicant will state his/her opinion of how his/her subject might evolve as seen from a teaching/learning perspective; his/her pedagogical visions should he/she be offered the post; his/her view of knowledge and learning, teaching, evaluation, etc.
B
Pedagogical skill based on the opinions and assessments of others: for example, course evaluations, pedagogical distinctions awarded (including reasons for the award), the stated opinions of the director of studies, head of department, student union, etc.
C
Pedagogical experience regarding level, length, scope and type of teaching in primary, secondary and higher education, here indicating whether teaching experience is at the undergraduate or post-graduate level and whether it includes experience of graduate research supervision. Experience at faculty and/or departmental level, time, and type of teaching methods employed: for example, activating or knowledge-seeking methods should be mentioned. Other material such as timetables, course syllabi, types of tests and examinations, plans of projects, and production of teaching materials should also be included.

Administrative assignments such as director of studies, course coordinator, responsibility for subject content of courses, examiner.
E
Teaching qualifications such as grades, courses taken, in-service/further training.
F
Other training/education relevant to the post: for example, in leadership, organisation, function of head of department, director of studies.
G
Other assignments of significance for the post: for example, research information, consultant, expert, project leader, membership in research council or awards committee, assignments for societies relevant to the subject concerned, investigations, teaching for international aid projects, international contacts.
