The English department at Högskolan Dalarna invites all teachers of English in higher education to a two-day forum on the present state and future possibilities of English studies in Sweden. As indicated by the title, this meeting is intended to function as a forum for exchanges of experiences and ideas of how our institutions of higher learning can open up and reach out both to society and to each other. Although organized in a slightly different format, the forum is a direct follow-up to the Sea-Change conference in Karlskrona in 2005 which raised a number of questions on the future of English studies in Sweden. We therefore ask for topic suggestions for workshops and seminars on how we can build bridges between
English departments in Sweden
Swedish and European universities within the Bologna framework
Swedish and international universities outside the EU
English in higher education and industry/public institutions
English in higher education and schools
Literature and linguistics
English and other disciplines
English and teacher education
Teachers and students within distance/web-based education
Send your topic suggestions to Anita Purcell Sjölund,
email@example.com, before 1 October 2006.
Indicate also if you are willing to function as a workshop moderator.
The forum will take place at Hotel Dalecarlia in Tällberg in the very heart of Dalarna. We hope that this relaxing and invigorating atmosphere will inspire all participants to contribute to creative and rewarding discussions on how building bridges can help us adapt to our changing working situation.
