International Meeting of Researchers, Experts and Students for Africa Days

This year's theme will mirror some of the guest lecturers' research interests and will examine, among other things, the hows and whys of African Studies -how we can can learn more about Africa in Europe at this time of migration, about religion, globalisation and development in Africa, African literature, politics, education, language and life-long learning as well as the trans-Atlantic slave trade in the 1700s.

Attending this year's Africa Days events are researchers, experts and students from a number of countries such as Finland, Ghana, Italy, Canada, Kenya, Nigeria, Norway, Poland and Tanzania.

The DUCAS Africa Days are part of collaboration with an international network with some 20 partner universities in Europe and Africa, and includes 40 international guest lecturers who give lectures on a regular basis to students in the master's programme in African Studies.

The programme is unique, and not only in a European context but also in a world-wide context, a fact established by Italy's Ministry of Education and Research.

As one of the students put it, "Here, we can receive an education and knowledge that we would only find by attending five or six universities in different countries: here, in Falun, it is all under one roof."

All the presentations will be given in English and the general public is warmly invited to attend.
