Meetings include bilateral meetings with China's Minister of Education Chen Baosheng and Wan Gang, Minister of Science and Technology, during which a memorandum of understanding related to education and research will be signed.

"China is the country in Asia that sends most students to Sweden, and we have a great deal of research collaboration at many different levels with China. The memorandum is an important step to further strengthen relations and to stimulate mobility between our two countries. International exchanges are also important for an innovative and export-dependent country such as Sweden and is also important when it comes to raising the quality of higher education and research," stated Helene Hellmark Knutsson, Minister for Higher Education and Research, in a press release from the Swedish Embassy in Peking.

The Swedish delegation will visit both Peking and Shanghai. In Peking there will be meetings with the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

The trip will conclude in Shanghai, where the delegation will meet researchers and students at Fundan University and also visit the Nordic Centre, which works to promote collaboration between researchers and students from the Nordic countries and China. The delegation will also meet with Tongji University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

A visit from the Vice-Chancellor is planned for the end of June 2017 to Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Nanchang University and Zhejiang Wanli University as a further way to strengthen collaborative ties.
