Our research specialises in evidence-based care. It involves the development of knowledge and practices that are based on current knowledge and practices so that resources within the health and welfare sectors, as well as within sport and fitness, are used purposefully and benefit the individual so that the population as  a whole reaches its best level in terms of health and well-being - physically, psychologically and socially.

Multidisciplinary Research

Most of the research conducted within the profile is multidisciplinary. Its main fields of research are reproductive health, the health of children and youth, older people and ageing, and the implementation of knowledge and well-being of the patients. It examines, for example, health aspects within the human life cycle -- such as FOLKHÄLSA, physical perforamnce, sickness-related risk factors, women's and children's health, aging and life-long states of health. The research also focuses on processes within healthcare and social work, such as the implementation of knowledge in practical terms; invovlement on the part of the consumer, client and patient; the healthcare environment; as well as the gender perspective in healthcare and social work.

Researchers within the profile have a broad competence base with a wealth of experience within healthcare; sexual, reproductive and perinatal health; social work; the sport and fitness sciences; and the medical sciences. Collaboration with regional actors within healthcare, social work and sport and fitness is well established.

These centres serve as platforms for multidisciplinary research and collaboration between the university and the County Council of Dalarna (Landstinget Dalarna), Region Dalarna, regional municipalities, private actors within the fields of healthcare, businesses and other academic institutions, both national and international.
