The study "Comparison of treatment of incomplete abortion with misoprostol by physicians and midwives at district level in Uganda: a randomised controlled equivalence trial" was recognized after it was presented at the recent conference held in Lisbon, Portugal, entitled "12th FIAPAC Conference - Improving women’s journeys through abortion".

Their study will now be published in the medical journal The Lancet.

The results of this interdisciplinary collaborative study demonstrate that midwives can just as safely and effectively as doctors treat women who have complications as a result of illegal abortions or miscarriage. As a result, the high level of maternal death in the country can now be tackled.
